Scouting’s quality depends on its volunteers and its volunteers depend on Scouting to teach them the skills they need. The award-winning training scheme for volunteers means that adults get as much from Scouting as our young people.
The modular training scheme delivers the full spectrum of required skills. Volunteers can choose training modules that are relevant to the role that they do, ranging from leadership to running residential experiences and first aid.
Over 90% of volunteers believe that the skills and experiences they have gained through Scouting have been of relevance to their working or personal lives, so we’re certainly doing something right.
At the 3rd Southgate we need leaders to help us deliver the weekly programme to our young people.
We particularly need adults who’d like to help with our younger members – the Beavers and Cubs. We’re looking for people who would like to take on the role of Section Assistant – there’s an official description of the role on the Scout Association website here.
We’re big believers in flexible volunteering, working to fit your role around the time you have available. Age is no barrier to joining us, some of our best volunteers have the time to help because they’re retired from work.
